Nick Hurston, Esq.
Nick Hurston is an alumnus of James Madison University and the Appalachian School of Law, and a resident of Staunton. His career began in Massachusetts until he moved back to Virginia in 2013, setting up a practice in Richmond. In 2015 he moved to Staunton and opened the Law Offices of Little & Hurston with William W. Little, Esq., a fellow classmate from Appalachian. Mr. Hurston opened a solo office in the heart of downtown Staunton’s historic Masonic Building in late 2018 and is excited to continue his practice of zealous advocacy and trusted counsel in this thriving city.
Raised in Newport News, Mr. Hurston’s father was a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy and his mother an analyst for Newport News Shipbuilding. He graduated from Warwick High School, the Home of the Raiders, and chose to further his education at James Madison University where he was active in student government, theater, and marching band. After graduating in 2001, Mr. Hurston dedicated his time to campaigning and fundraising for several advocacy groups such as Sierra Club, Greenpeace, Human Rights Campaign, and the U.S. PIRG, which took him to Pittsburgh, Atlanta, and Boston.
Afterward, Nick Hurston earned his law degree from the Appalachian School of Law in 2007, where he founded the Environmental Law Society and was Managing Editor of the inaugural Natural Resources Law Journal. Mr. Hurston also competed on the ASL moot court team as principal brief writer and oral advocate for Domenick L. Gabrielli National Family Law Moot Court Competition in 2006 and 2007, finishing as a quarter-finalist and semi-finalist respectively. Nick Hurston enjoys cooking, brewing, live music with friends, and has a whippet/podengo mix named Oz and a buff tabby named Chicken. Nick is also a guitarist and bassist, playing in one of Staunton’s newest bands, The Crowles.
